After breakfast proceed for Chennai sightseeing.
Drive past Fort St George (or historically, White Town) is the first English (later British) fortress in India, founded in 1644 at the coastal city of Madras, the modern city of Chennai. The fort was named after St George who is believed to have preached in the region. The fort currently houses the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly and other official buildings.
Basilica of the National Shrine of St. Thomas. In the whole world, there are only three churches built over the tomb of an Apostle of Jesus Christ- the Basilica of Saint Peter in Rome, Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain and Basilica of the National Shrine of St. Thomas built in Chennai. His body was buried on the spot over which the present Basilica stands. The shrine was restored in 2004.
Kapaleeswarar Temple (Kapaleeshwara). One of Chennai’s oldest and best-known temples, said to date to the 8th century. Notable above all for its soaring, incredibly detailed 37m Gopurams (entrance gate). There is a large water tank behind the temple, used for the Thaipusam festival.
Marina Beach is 12 kms long and offers excellent opportunities for walks and has a very wide sandy foreshore. The Marina of Madras is the second longest urban beach in the world. Along the shore, there are many buildings built during the British colonial rule. It is the most popular gathering place for locals. Watching the sunrise from the beach is an experience by itself. After breakfast, drive to Mahabalipuram. Enroute visit Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology (MCBT) is a reptile zoo and herpetology research station. The centre is both a registered trust and a recognized zoo. The bank is the first crocodile breeding centre in Asia. It was established with the aim of saving three Indian endangered species of crocodile – the marsh or mugger crocodile, the saltwater crocodile, and the Gharial which at the time of founding of the trust were all nearing extinction. As of 2011, the Croc Bank has a total of 2,483 animals, including 14 species of crocodiles, 10 species of turtles, 3 species of snakes, and 1 species of lizard.
Continue to Mahabalipuram. On arrival transfer to hotel.
Mamallapuram, or Mahabalipuram, is known for its temples and monuments built by the Pallava dynasty in the 7th and 8th centuries. The group of monuments at Mahabalipuram is a collection of 7th- and 8th-century CE religious monuments in the coastal resort and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site has 400 ancient monuments and Hindu temples, including one of the largest open-air rock reliefs in the world: the Descent of the Ganges or Arjuna’s Penance. The group contains several categories of monuments: ratha temples with monolithic processional chariots, built between 630 and 668; mandapa viharas (cave temples) with narratives from the Mahabharata and Shaivic, Shakti and Vaishnava inscriptions. The monuments were built during the Pallava dynasty, known as the Seven Pagodas in many colonial-era publications; they are also called the Mamallapuram temples or Mahabalipuram temples in contemporary literature. The site, restored after 1960, has been managed by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Later proceed to visit Sri Aurobindo ashram, the Auroville complex, the French quarter. The world-famous Sri Aurobindo ashram is situated here. The Auroville complex is the brainchild of “the mother”. The late French woman devotee of Sri Aurobindo to whom the spiritual authority was passed on after the death of Sri Aurobindo.
Also explore Promenade Beach. It is a famous stretch of beachfront that extends for 1.2 km from War Memorial to the Dupleix Park on the Goubert Ave. The beach is often crowded. This attractive beach is usually characterised by ocean sprays, waterscape and waves of chatters. The Promenade beach proves to be a wonderland for the tourists due to the presence of various significant landmarks nearby, namely the War Memorial, the statue of Joan of Arc, the heritage Town Hall, old lighthouse, the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the remains of the old pier, Dupleix Statue and the old customs house. Tanjore – The beautiful Chola temple of Brihadeeshwara is capped by a monolithic cupola made of a single granite block weighting 80 tons which was taken to the top with the help of a 6 km long ramp, bronzes and handicrafts make Tanjore one of the highlights of a visit to south India. After breakfast, drive to Madurai, upon arrival at Madurai check into hotel.
Afternoon Visit the great Meenakshi temple (also referred to as Meenakshi Amman or Meenakshi-Sundareshwara Temple), is a historic Hindu temple dedicated to Meenakshi, a form of Parvati, and her consort, Sundareshwar, a form of Shiva. The temple is at the centre of the ancient temple city of Madurai. Though the temple has historic roots, most of the present campus structure was rebuilt after the 14th century CE, further repaired, renovated and expanded in the 17th century by Thirumalai Nayak. The Meenakshi temple also includes Lakshmi, flute playing Krishna, Rukmini, Brahma, Saraswati, other Vedic and Puranic deities. The large temple complex is the most prominent landmark in Madurai and attracts tens of thousands of visitors a day. The Temple has been adjudged best ‘Swachh Iconic Place’ in India as on October 1, 2017 under Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi’s Flagship Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Dinner & Overnight stay at hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Rameswaram. On arrival transfer to hotel.
The island of Rameswaram spreads out over 56 Kms. This is a sacred place for Hindus. According to Ramayana; this is where Rama worshipped Lord Shiva to absolve himself of the sin of killing Ravana. A dip into the sacred waters of the Agnitheertham which was calmed by Rama is a must for Hindus.

After breakfast, drive to Kanyakumari. On arrival, transfer to hotel.
Kanyakumari is the Land’s End of India where the water of the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and The Indian Ocean meet. An important pilgrim centre of India, it is famous for the Amman temple – a symbol of unity and sanctity – dedicated to the virgin goddess, Kanyakumari. To its South-East lies the famous Vivekananda Rock Memorial, a blend of all the architectural style of India.

After breakfast, drive to Kovalam. On arrival transfer to hotel.
Kovalam is one of the most beautiful beaches of the world. The surf here is ideal for surf-riding and the water invites the visitor to ride the Catamaran or Log, with the fisherman, or to take a cool swim. Nearby is the Beach Centre of aquatic sports. At the yoga and health centre, Yoga classes and transcendental meditation are held. Ayurveda oil massages and oil baths are given by experts (on direct payment basis).

Thekkady is considered a heaven for natural spices such as black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and clove. The very sound of the word Thekkady conjures up images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spice-scented plantations.
Proceed for Spice Plantation: This tour is a prime attraction of this beautiful land. Plantations of cardamom, rubber, vanilla and coffee are also aplenty. Walk amidst the green, terraced farms in Thekkady, while you hear the murmuring sound of the rippling stream. There are various kinds of spices cultivated in Thekkady. The most abundantly found spice here is pepper. But there is a variety of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric and curry leaves on the slanting slopes of the spice plantation in Thekkady.
Evening enjoy Kalarippayattu. Considered among the oldest and most scientific martial arts in the world, Kalarippayattu was developed in Kerala. Lauded as the pride of Kerala, it is acknowledged and respected across the world. The training begins with an oil massage of the entire body until it is agile and supple. Feats like jumping, running and somersault are also integral parts of the art form. There are also lessons in using weapons like swords, daggers, spears, maces, and bows and arrows. Visit Periyar Lake – The Lake of the Periyar makes an important site to visit in Thekkady. The main attraction in Thekkady is boating on the lake and the Mullai Periyar Dam. Enjoy boating on the Periyar Lake and experience a view of calm crystal clear Periyar Lake and sanctuary. Watch different wild animals while boating. This splendid artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam across the Periyar River adds to the charm of the park.
Back to hotel for breakfast. Later check-out and drive to Alleppey and transfer to jetty to board the houseboat.
Alleppey is known as the Venice of the East has a largest network of Canals and is a centre for backwater cruises. Large number of tourists are attracted to this district because of its boat races, houseboat. Refreshments and Lunch in the Houseboat. Your houseboat will take you for a Cruise around backwater villages of Alleppey. Visit St. Francis Church, in Fort Kochi (Fort Cochin), Kochi, originally built in 1503, is one of the oldest European churches in India and has great historical significance as a mute witness to the European colonial struggle in the subcontinent.
The Paradesi Synagogue is the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations, located in Kochi. Constructed in 1567, it is one of seven synagogues of the Malabar Yehudan or Yehudan Mappila people or Cochin Jewish community in the Kingdom of Cochin. Paradesi is a word used in several Indian languages, and the literal meaning of the term is “foreigners”, applied to the synagogue because it was built by Sephardic or Spanish-speaking Jews, some of them from families exiled in Aleppo, Safed and other West Asian localities.
